About
Dakota Councilman started as a law clerk at Davison Van Cleve in 2023 during his time at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. After he graduated and passed the Nevada Bar, he continues to work for Davison Van Cleve as an associate attorney. Dakota’s passion for business and energy law led him to Davison Van Cleve, where he assists clients on matters related to energy markets, state utility commission proceedings, as well as a wide variety of general business matters. Dakota’s previous legal experience spans work with indigent defendants at the Alternate Public Defender’s Office in Washoe County, construction defect matters, and work as a Judicial Extern for Chief Judge Sargis of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. Dakota is an active member of the Nevada State Bar.
Dakota graduated with concentrations in Business and Taxation law and is a member of the Traynor Honor Society. He competed on the Negotiations Team, served as a primary editor for the University of the Pacific Law Review Journal, and was Treasurer for the Alternate Dispute Resolution club. Dakota was also the Alumni Chairman a liaison between the Student Body Association and McGeorge Alumni Board.
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Dakota has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by the communities in the West.
